Day 32: Pueblo to Canon City

We had (another) fabulous morning in Pueblo: breakfast salad, biking through the city, walking along the riverwalk, and so on. We are pretty into public water fronts, just like city parks, as community spaces to gather and be outside.

The Arkansas river used to run right through Pueblo, but flooded many years ago. The new riverfront diverts some of the water in a very controlled way.

We rode to West Pueblo on our way out to Canon City and had lunch outside the Safeway. New region, new grocery store chain!

Will this be enough carrots for a few days?

A storm rolled in, fairly ominously, during the last bit of our ride. We ended up checking the weather radar at a gas station then deciding to hitch a ride from a family heading toward Canon City in their 2 pick-up  trucks. Camping was beautiful in the city park (the storm cleared pretty quickly in that area).
